About Us

Michigan Online School is an online public charter school. A charter school is one that is established by the local community (such as teachers, parents, and/or other groups) according to a charter established through the local or national government.

What this means is that Michigan Online School is approved and funded by the Michigan Department of Education. We operate under the Michigan Department of Education as one of its public schools, and this is how we are able to provide an education to Michigan students for FREE.

To provide a top-tier education, we use the award-winning curriculum developed by Edmentum:

  • This curriculum has won many prestigious awards, recently including the 2018 Teacher’s Choice Award, a 2018 BESSIE award for math and reading test preparation, and many others.
  • The curriculum is tried and true. It was created more than a decade ago and has been used by more than 14 million students.
  • Students can choose from more than 250 courses, including core subjects, languages, and electives.
  • Honors and Advanced Placement courses are also available!

All courses are provided completely online. Students have the flexibility to learn on their own schedules, and teachers and guardians have full visibility into students’ progress and grades.

Michigan Online School is a member of the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL.org).

Michigan Online School was created by public school teachers for public school students, and it is the only one of its kind in the state of Michigan. Our teachers are fully invested and passionate about providing a high-quality education that will help give our students the means to achieve their life goals.
